"atheism does not punish anyone"

Since atheism has no directives or rules, there is no call for punishment since there are no rules or directives to contravene. Within the framework of a legal system, such as in a secular society, there may be punishments prescribed for certain criminal acts, which are also incidental to atheism since they cannot logically be informed by atheism.
